Hi Carolyn,
Thank you. The Sony FDL-320 is a analogue television and will not display digital signals. You can test your Sony by attaching a cable from your satellite or cable box to the video input on the TV, but you will need a digital converter box. Another way to test, is to run a cable from a DVD player to the video input. If you don't have the cable with mini plug, it is readily available at Radio Shack or similar stores. Without testing, if your screen lights up and displays "snow", it may be working, but no guarantees.

Hi, Just wanted to say that you have a remarkable collection of Micro TV's. We have a Sony Color Watchman LCD - FDL-320. The radio works great but can't get any stations in on the TV. Do you know if it's because everything is now HD? If I could get it to work, would like to sell.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Michel,

Thank you for your comment. Yes one can find bargains with patience. One need to ask questions of the seller to see if the set is actually working. Many times they say something like "it worked the last time I tried it", but that turns out to be years ago and is not operating. I'm starting to look at UK, German and Belgium sites for rare models only sold in Europe. Example, the Sharp C 315S color LCD on PAGE FOUR of my site. I purchased this model from a German collector. I'm currently looking for several of the 90's Philips color LCD sets and the Panasonic TR-1001S with digital clock built in. It seems this model was only marketed in Europe. Would love to see photos of your favorite micro TV's and I can post your photos to the Viewers Micro Television section. Think I may have seen the Brionvega, very sleek looking? I visited Brussels as a tourist and found the city very interesting, the seat of Euro government, the beer, chocolate, coffee and waffles were the best!

Congratulations for your nice and very well documented website! I'm an enthusiastic Belgian collector, so beleive me in Europe these beautiful portable/pocket/mini/micro TV sets are more than hard to find, (except some rare models from England or Russia) that's the reason why I'm now purchasing on the web from USA, Canada and sometimes Italy; But when they come from USA, the seller receives less money than the carrier which is pretty stupid (and ultimately quite expensive)... Yesterday I just bought one 60's Sony Micro TV with carriyng case, like yours and (hoping it's true!) in almost pristine state for 34$ Also a 1979 PANASONIC TR-707 for 17$ (+ shipment...)
Actually my most attractive models are: Brionvega Algol (Color version, black cabinet, new) and Brionvega Doney (Color version, silver cabinet, new) among some other Roadstar, Orion and Panasonic items.
Thanks again, best regards from Belgium, Michel

Hi Bernardo,

Thanks. If the screen lights up on your Sony, you may need a recap. It will be tough to find a replacement CRT. On Ebay, often you can find working Sony's as your model for less then $100.00, might be easier that way.

This is the see-through TV I mentioned. You already had it listed.

Magazine Cover

Original magazine purchased by me, the cover of the February, 1966 issue of Popular Mechanics magazine, features a working prototype, dual sided, six inch color television.

The tube was 2 3/8 inches thick and could be viewed on both sides of the set. The set measured 10″ h x 6″ w x 3 1/2″ d and weighed 6 pounds.
